- π€ LinkedIn is building a creator management team to help grow its community of content creators on the platform, following a long trail of investments from tech companies into the creator economy (started by TikTok, Substack, and most recently Clubhouse).
- π Facebook has been working hard on βreplicatingβ competitors. Whilst working on a Cameo app look-a-like, the social network, which has a history of cloning fellow networks, has started working on an audio chat feature. Deja-vu anyone?
- π₯ Talking about replicating, YouTube has confirmed that its TikTok-inspired 'Shorts' feed and camera option will be expanded to US users, including the launch of a new 'Shorts Report', a bi-weekly overview of key Shorts trends, updates and tips.
- π In more Facebook news, the social media giant has blocked people in Australia from viewing and sharing news on its platform in retaliation for the House putting through a law that would require it to pay news organisations.
- π¦ Elon Musk broke the internet when he invited Russian President Vladimir Putin on Clubhouse via Twitter. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov eventually responded to his request, calling it an βinteresting proposal.β
- πOver the past week, Twitter has previewed a range of improvements for the Spaces UI to compete with the ever-so-growing influence of Clubhouse
- πΊ Nyan Cat is being sold as a one-of-a-kind piece of crypto art as it turns 10 in April. A one-of-a-kind edition of the iconic GIF is going up for auction.
